Vice President, Professional
Development
STEVEN J. ROD has
held the position of vice-president of professional development
services for JCC Association since July 1995. Prior to this,
he was the director of executive development and director
of training for the JCC Association from 1988 through 1995.
A lifetime JCC career professional, Steven has served as the
executive director of the Omaha JCC and assistant director
of the Minneapolis JCC. He also held program positions at
the Rochester, NY and Metrowest, NJ JCCs.
In his current
capacity, he is concerned with all matters dealing with professional
personnel in the Jewish Community Center field. This includes
recruitment and placement of quality professionals; methods
of staff retention; changes in personnel practice; study and
publication of trends, educational requirements, and staff
development and training. He serves as the staff director
of the JCCs of North America Professional Conference, JCC
Association's Executive Development Training Program (EDTP),
and the annual JCC Executive Directors' Training Seminars.
Steven is a member
of the American Society of Training Directors (ASTD) and the
Association of Jewish Center Professionals (AJCP), where he
served as vice-president. He is a an active member of the
stamp collecting community, where he is currently working
on his third book, The Encyclopedia of United States Stamp
Collecting, to be published in May, 2006.
Steven
holds a Masters of Social Work from Yeshiva University.

Brand
Associate Director of Professional
Development Services
JOY BRAND, associate
director of professional development at JCC Association since
2000, currently aids JCCs and professionals in finding the
"right match". Joy's responsibilities include career
counseling, staffing the JCC Association scholarship program
and managing professional training seminars.
Joy's
JCC career has included over 20 years in the JCC field supervising
health, fitness, sport and aquatic departments prior to joining
the staff at JCC Association in 1997. Joy has been a presenter
at numerous JCC and elementary education conferences, has
served on continental planning committees, written published
works on safety, swimming and children's sports, and is a
proud recipient of the JCCA Graduate Education Scholarship
and the AJCP Program of Excellence Award.
